Texas Country & Red Dirt Music

Caleb Sam Brown

Larry Joe Taylor’s 2023 Songwriter Showcase Winner

Singer, songwriter, and muti-instrumentalist, Caleb Sam Brown is new to the country and folk scene–and hungry. This spring, he traveled back to Texas three times from South Carolina to compete in a songwriter’s showcase with the grand prize of a Gibson guitar and a performing slot at the 2023 LJT Texas Music Festival.

Return to Texas

Born and raised in Kingsville, Texas, Caleb strives to write music that’s true to his Texan heritage. He is inspired by the artists he’s seen and heard from the dance halls of South Texas all the way to College Station, where he spent four years attending Texas A&M. Now transitioning out of the military, Caleb is writing, recording, and performing music wherever he can in South Carolina–awaiting his return to Texas.

Live & Studio

The Thing About a Memory is a collection of 12 home-studio recorded songs, featuring Caleb’s acoustic ’95 Washburn, a pawn shop Kona bass, a second-hand mandolin, and a lap steel guitar–all played by Caleb. Most of the songs are as Texas-grown as the writer himself, with a couple inspired by his military duty stations (most notably, the Civil War ghost tale: Blue and Gray and Red).

Upcoming Projects

In a couple weeks Caleb and his family are moving back to Texas for good! He’ll be releasing his newest single, “Coyote” which he wrote while training in the desert in 29 Palms, California,

In the Fall of 2023, Caleb is re-recording a favorite from his album, “What About Mexico.” It will be released just in time for Caleb and his family to embark on a South American Texas Country Music Cruise in the spring!
